Michelle first found her way to genealogical research when she began tracing her grandparents’ diverse paths to California, where Michelle was born. She found—and continues to find—an American story with origins in early New England and Virginia, and many lines that pushed West through the generations. Her DNA evidence told its own story, revealing her grandfather’s unknown adoption. By discovering his biological parents, researching them, and writing their stories, she honed her skills as a genealogist and gained insight into the celebrations and challenges of grafting a new branch onto one’s family tree. She has since helped many others uncover new and revealing information about their ancestors.

Michelle has been researching family history for more than a decade. She holds a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University, is a ProGen graduate, and has completed several institute courses, including those in advanced DNA evidence analysis and genealogical writing. She earned her BA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Michelle’s affiliations include the Association for Professional Genealogists (APG), the APG Puget Sound Chapter, the Seattle Genealogical Society and the Genealogical Forum of Oregon.
